Roger Waters

We went to the Roger Waters concert at the Pepsi Center last night. He's definitely getting a little long in the tooth, but it was still a great show. The first half of the show was old Floyd and his solo work, the second half was the entire Dark Side of the Moon. The old Floyd included Wish You Were Here, Have a Cigar, Mother, Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun (that was kind of a surprise) and others. He had a nice picture montage of Syd during Shine On. Waters' own material gave people an opportunity for a bathroom break - sorry Waters, love ya but you know that's how it works.

He did make quite a production about one of his songs, Leaving Beirut. It was a little heavy handed with the politics, and generally just not a great song (in my opinion) but it still had a few cheerable moments, including references to King George and the religious far right.

Although I couldn't bring in a camera, I did have my Blackberry Curve. Our seats were in the upper level and just a little off center to the left, which we did on purpose because his stage show is "big" enough to see from even the very last row and so why spend extra, which meant that there was no way I was going to get any good shots of the little creatures milling about on the stage.

I didn't expect to see a pig since it went missing at the Coachella concert, but of course they had a spare.



The second half of the show went by way too fast. This isn't a good shot, but it was a really neat effect live.



The encore was Vera and Comfortably Numb (no way he was going to leave that out, right?).

Overall, a fun evening and I'm glad we went - you never know how long these older guys are going to be around, right?
