Another Brick in the Wall
Gosh, who could have predicted that something like this could happen?
High school senior Allen Lee sat down with his creative writing classon Monday and penned an essay that so disturbed his teacher, school administrators and police that he was charged with disorderly conduct.

Allen Lee, an 18-year-old straight-A student at Cary-Grove High School, was arrested Tuesday near his home and charged with disorderly conduct for an essay police described as violently disturbing but not directed toward any specific person or location.
This is what happens when you institute retarded "zero tolerance" policies. This is what happens when you have a society that lives in a constant state of fear. This is what happens when you turn over the expectation for "safety" to an institution instead of maintaining your own individual level of responsibility.
In short, this is what happens when people stop thinking for themselves.
And by the way - even if this kid isn't dangerous in the least, there are kids all over the country who will see this story and applaud his actions and add this little incident to their mental file of how society is trying to slowly kill them.
Oh - and one more thing? He's ASIAN!! *gasp*

Oy, Quiddity, I saw this one, too. Not one whiff of basis behind the allegations - never been in trouble, no other reason to believe he might be dangerous in any way... So, basically, tune out the entire wacked out world around you and write only happy thoughts or they might throw your ass in jail... meanwhile the jocks are boozing and assalting people in the locker room and the 'in' crowd is tormenting the weak... but God forbid you use your pen for something and the censors are out in droves... after all, if you can think it, how far behind can doing the deed be?
It's a scary thing for those of us with an creative leanings... should be a scary thing for those of us with thoughts at all - after all, do you want some big brother type telling you what you're allowed to think?
I get that the kid at Virginia Tech wrote disturbing things, but he was doing other things to raise suspicion, too, like taking pictures of girls' legs under their desks with his phone... and stalking, well, there's a healthy habit. The kid in this scenario has no other hint of being a problem other than one writing assignment in a stellar academic career.
Let's just say for the argument that what he captured was a depiction alien to his own perspective... Well hell, in fiction writing circles we generally refer to that as 'Talent'.
